The Jefferson County Young Lawyer's Association is a valuable resource for local practitioners.  With over 150 members, the JCYLA continues to make a difference in the local legal community as well as the lives of the residents of Southeast Texas.

The purpose of this association is serving public interest; cultivating the science of jurisprudence; promoting reform in the law; facilitating the administration of justice; fostering respect of the law among citizens of Southeast Texas; advancing the standing of the legal profession; preserving high standards of integrity, honor and professional courtesy among the young lawyers in Southeast Texas; and cooperating with the other young lawyers associations in Texas, Texas Young Lawyers Association, American Bar Association/Young Lawyer Division, State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association and other legal organizations.

The JCYLA hosts monthly CLE luncheons on third Wednesday of every month (excluding May & December); the annual Breakfast With The Bench, which coincides with Law Day in May; the New Lawyer Orientation held each fall; Teen Court volunteer recruitment; and hosting the Region V Mock Trial Competition.

Community service projects are also at the heart of the JCYLA . In 2010, for example, the JCYLA conducted a Holiday Food Drive for the senior citizens of Southeast Texas; collected, compiled and delivered Haiti relief kits for the earthquake victims; and organized a series of workshops to provide legal resources/information to the parents of special needs children.

Please watch the calendar of events to get more information regarding this service minded professional group of young lawyers.
